Born in 1964, Houman Mortazavi is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans installation, sculpture, and conceptual practices. Drawing from cultural memory Mortazavi constructs layered visual narratives that interrogate human instincts, displacement, and insecurity. He belongs to the first post_revolution generation of Iranian artists.
He has exhibited internationally since the early 1990s, with solo and group shows in Tehran, Los Angeles, Dubai, and Los Angeles and Boston.
Mortazavi is also a co-founder of several collaborative platforms, including Karestan Artists Foundation, Movazi Group, and Zirpelleh Collective. His “Project Misplaced” has been presented in various forms across institutions in the U.S. and Iran.
